PMU readiness
When to wait before booking permanent makeup.
Permanent makeup breaks the skin, so timing and healing matter. This page is general guidance only. Mari Blush cannot diagnose medical conditions or tell you whether a treatment is medically safe for you.
Based on general tattoo and permanent makeup safety guidance from public health, cosmetic safety, medical, and FDA sources. This is not medical advice.
You may need to wait or ask first if:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have an active skin infection, irritation, rash, acne flare, cold sore, open wound, or sunburn near the treatment area.
- You have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
- You have uncontrolled diabetes, poor wound healing, or poor circulation.
- You are immune suppressed, having an autoimmune flare, actively ill, or recently recovered from an infection.
- You have a bleeding disorder, take blood-thinning medication, or bruise or bleed easily.
- You have had an allergy or previous reaction to pigments, tattoo ink, numbing products, latex, or aftercare products.
- You recently had cosmetic injectables, laser, chemical peel, microneedling, or surgery near the area.
- You recently used or currently use acne medication such as isotretinoin/Accutane or strong retinoids.
- You have an upcoming MRI, surgery, medical procedure, vacation, wedding, photoshoot, or event where healing downtime would be a problem.
What to do if one of these applies
Please do not guess. Wait until the area is calm and healed, message before booking, or check with your healthcare professional when a health condition, medication, or procedure could affect healing.
